Description PoieticsTM Growth Media 2 Kit is an improved formulation for culturing preadipocytes based on our existing PGM media kit. This media kit includes the required ingredients for cell proliferation and differentiation of subcutaneous and visceral preadipocytes. This new media kit outperforms our older version and several major competitors’ media in both proliferation and differentiation.
Competing Products/Technologies The 2 primary competitors are Promocell and ZenBio which have similar media kits for growing and differentiating preadipocytes. Promocell’s kit performed miserably with our cells repeatedly. They are also much more expensive, contain glitazones, and require longer culture time. ZenBio’s kit performs adequately but requires much longer culture times which involves additional feeding and media changes. They are also more expensive and send their media fresh so it’s shelf life is only 6 months at best (if kept frozen).
Product Position Superior PGM-2 Media significantly outperforms competition: Better proliferation of visceral and subcutaneous cells Significantly better differentiation of cells in much shorter culture time (10 days) No glitazones included which can interfere with PPAR-gamma activation assays No media changes needed during culture time. Longer shelf life (1 year vs. 6 months) Easy to use, and more cost effective kit Related Products PT-5001 Subcutaneous Preadipocytes (4 million cells) PT-5020 Subcutaneous Preadipocytes (1 million cells) PT-5005 Visceral Preadipocytes (1 million cells) PT-7009 AdipoRed Assay Reagent Customer Questions 1. How do the media recommendations differ for the visceral vs. subcutaneous preadipocytes since the same media kit is used? There is now no difference in protocol between visceral and subcutaneous cells with this new media. 2. Have the passage numbers increased with the new media? No, 2 passages recommended for subcutaneous and 1 passage for visceral. 3. Can I still purchase PGM? PGM will be discontinued on June 30th and completely replaced by PGM-2. 4. What level of differentiation should I expect to see from these cells? We guarantee >70% of the visceral cells, and 90% of the subcutaneous will differentiate into mature adipocytes when using our recommended protocols. 5. What are the formulation differences between PGM and PGM-2? Additional component added to the basal medium, and different concentrations of 2 components in the SQ kit.
